A blogging good time...

Well, well, well it has been a while since I have blogged. However, I am happy to announce that is only because I am so overjoyed and inspired by my lovely bridal clients. I am sharing photos from a very sweet Bride whom I met earlier this year. Cindy and I met over coffee and she shared photos of her dress & samples of her fuschia accents that she would feature in her July wedding. It was a few weeks before her wedding she emailed me and wanted to honour her late father, by incorporating a photo of him on her bouquet. The locket fit the design of her feather Bouquet beautifully and I must say it was very heartwarming to see how happy she was when she picked up her Couture Bouquet, Ivory feather headband and fuschia hair clip for her reception. Mark also rocked the feather boutonniere & their whole day looked like a love-filled dream and I am overjoyed that my little handmade creations could be a part of their day!

No February Break over here!

A lot of people have been asking me about the weddings I have been working on and the colour/design trends that are popular this year.  I have to say that purple is big this year and Vintage is taking over the entire wedding industry.  From birdcage veils to lace gloves, Vintage is here to stay and I love to take a vintage or heirloom piece and re-create it into your design. 

I am proud that my designs are a small part of such a beautiful moment, so here is what I am working on:

My current TO DO list in order or priority (yes I love my job!) :

February Feathers!

My last entry was at the beginning of the new year and my resolution was to stay committed to blogging...well there goes that resolution now that is is February!  It's like those people who go to the gym in January out of guilt and then trail off the workouts until they don't exist (actually I am on of those people too!) 

So it's February and that means the wedding of a lovely Bride I met last fall is just around the corner!  Here is a Sneak Peak at Naomi & Ryan's custom designs!  I was very inspired by the beautiful memorial charms Naomi had made by Designs by Tami.  I searched for a Vintage-inspired necklace (I heart vintage) to re-work as a complement to  the charms.  I love how it turned out and she will have those tokens, along with her Bouquet as an everlasting memory of her big day!  Congrats!

Busy little Business!!!

I have been quite busy creating new designs for a photo shoot, filling 2010 wedding orders and building my little Business.  SightForStyle Designs is officially OPEN for business, and I could not be more excited!!

My favourite part of this job, is meeting with Brides and hearing about all of the details of their wedding!  I LOVE weddings and all of the craziness that goes with them.  SO looking forward to attending the Bridal show on January 16th with Megan Paur (owner) of www.paisleyparty&gift.com.

Here is a sneak peek of an upcoming winter Wedding!  Jenessa's Ring is a sapphire and she wanted to keep those tones througout the details of the wedding.  Enter: PEACOCK FEATHERS!!! Small touches of peacock throught the bridal party and centre pieces tie together this lovely intimate affair at Elk Ridge Resort.

All about the Accessories

Styling all of the "Looks" of our wedding was a lot of work, but SO much fun.  We decided that we wanted a different dress/outfit for each of our 10 attendants.  Having worked in fashion for a long time, I knew what I wanted and went on the hunt for the right jewellery, dresses, ties etc.  This meant coordinating colors to our theme, but individualizing each look to each personality.

I was a little unsure of having feather bouquets at our wedding, but after the photos and the fact that I am able to look at my beautiful bouquet everyday--best decision ever!

For as long as I can remember I have loved jewellery, hair pieces and all things deemed an ACCESSORY! To be, or not to be: no longer a question!

I watched Jule&Julia last night and realized that I deserved a big fail for my blogging attempts.  I was amazed at Julie's commitment to cooking and blogging, so I will attempt blogging first, since cooking is my Sister's forte.

I will choose to link the lack of blogging to being busy, and I have been extremely busy (which is a great thing).  This past spring an extremely talented photographer friend of mine, Karyn Kimberley asked me to come along to style a model (Mandyy March) photo shoot!  I had an awesome day with the Sessions Photography and Image group and it turned into a gig styling the Midtown Plaza Fall Advertising campaign!  Yesterday, I styled the Midtown Christmas campaign and I am excited to see the ads around Saskatoon in November.

In my 29 years, I have been told (from numerous friends) that I should be doing something 'creative'.  Our Wedding was not only the greatest day of my life, but it also allowed me to be a crafter, stylist and designer all in one.  I put my heart, soul and creative mind into the entire day-- from styling the beautiful bridal party to designing a unique wedding alter that I had dreamt about. It was a stressful year, but a great year and I finally listened to my friends and my own heart and ventured out of my corporate comfort zone! 

I searched for the perfect Jewellery for each attendant.  Kim's neckalce came from They Bay.

I printed our logo on bags for the candy buffet and made these cones with scrap book paper.  

My jewels consisted of:
Banana Republic earrings, cuff from Frakas, a vintage brooch from my mom & hair pins from The Bay

The picture doesn't do it justice, but I made a wedding wish tree from
Manzanita branches, recycled damask paper & jewels from Michaels.

So now that the wedding is over, I am looking for more Styling opportunties and focused on my next creative endeavour...stay tuned!
